Our Maltese had bad red tears. We purchased a Berkey water filter and put him on Berkey water. The red tears soon stopped ompletely and his face is now pure white.

As long as you get the crusty stuff out of the hair the fur doesn’t hurt them if it’s brown. Have 4 teddy bear doggies and I don’t think I could risk putting stuff near their eyes just for looks.

I have my Maltepoo and she always alright because I clean her eyes almost every day, you just take a wipe and clean de eyes plus I cut the hair in the tears area with the scissors and that’s it

For goodness sake, let your dog be a dog, get rid of the goo with a cotton bud and just cut the tear stain out appropriately, job done. Better than putting any crap near their eyes whatever it is. They’re not ornaments they’re animals….Don’t worry about it and get on with your life and take them for a walk instead! They much prefer that

For those talking about the risks involved, go to the website – it will show you exactly what’s in the product, and there are zero chemicals. I’ve a young bolognese dog, and he has less muck accumulating in his fur – and no, i leave the fur cutting to a professional.
It also gives the scientific explanation as to why the tear staining occurs – nothing to do with water! We’ve had great success with it, no, I have no affiliation with the company, and yes, I recommend it.
