If you have a cat scratching your furniture, pulling threads out of your curtains and frantically destroying the corners of your sofa with those hyperactive bouts of back leg frenzy, then you really need a cat scratching post.

The only way to even try to tame your cat’s scratching activity is to try to divert them to a cat scratch post.

And, what you need to know is what is really important in a scratching post.

What matters most is size; it must be big and tall so that your cat can really and fully stretch out. It must be sturdy, so your cat cannot easily knock it over; and it should have a favorable scratching material (sisal is preferable).

The Smart Cat is very well made and is built to last no matter how agressive your cat is with it.

It does need assembly but this is simply done just by inserting dowels into pre-made holes and then attaching the base to the scratch post.

The base of the post is sufficiently wide to prevent any toppling. It’s 16 x 16 inches and heavy enough (at 8kg) to stay in place.

In metric those sizes are:

Height: 88.9cm
Depth: 40.6cm
Width: 40.6cm
Weight: 8kg

With that height, this scratching post has plenty of space for even the largest of cats so they can stretch and claw at the sisal.

This post lives up to is name – we assume it’s called ‘smart’ because it is well designed and looks great. It is, indeed, smart.

So it will fit in with any decor and look good with your home decor.

On top of that this scratching post has a reputation for lasting a very long time (many years, in fact) and that it stands up to the scratching by cats very well, so that the sisal stays tidy and you don’t have bits unraveling.

In short, if want the best cat scratching post that money can buy?

Want one that will fit in with your home décor?

And one that fits all those criteria of size, sturdiness and the right materials?

Then this is the cat scratching post that you need.

Amazon reviewers tell it like it is and if you check out what they have to say about this premium cat scratching post here, you’ll see that this won’t disappoint.

Any chance you could add closed captions to your videos? I likes the review.

It’s great! But being a diy / make it myself type person, and as an older person with a income limitations, this would be something I can probably make myself for a lot less.No offense meant, and I appreciate the video showing it as I have 2 cats also and I am moving to a new apartment soon …they will need one of their own and my current housemate will keep hers.I like projects also that keep me busy and are not overly complicated, this is a good one ! There is also a carpet installer I know where I can purchase a remnant that will work as well ,and height just give it to me and it will be new.It will ensure that they don’t take a liking to scratch up or mangle any furniture in my new place.A piece of 6′ x 3 foot size cut of good quality plywood 3/4 " thick should do.and I’ll need a all length of trim .I refuse to buy pressed wood panels for construction of furniture projects..IMO it’s just junk- ever since my aquarium stand (made and veneered over with it)fell apart due to a slow leak.in the aquarium all day when I was at work.I came home to a broken & destroyed (and costly -expensive fish!) watery mess all over my bedroom when the stand soaked up the water like a sponge and just disintegrated the glue (holding together the sawdust it’s made of) .I you buy any furniture that is made of pressed wood it will not hold up well and doesn’t provide a solid platform to hold tight the nails or screws ..and if there is a spot that gets exceptional wear and tear, they will rip out as a large chunk .I just do not find it worthwhile to use it in comparison to the effort you are putting into making something. And the veneer covering will not protect the underneath from water or spillage- bumps and blister may form under the veneer which is not a good thing to see in maybe a coffee table or bar/ kitchen table.

Just got one off Amazon for X-mas 2022 – the beige is on sale for $39.99. Save some, so am going to try the perch too.

I have had one for several years. My fur babies like it a lot. Initially i rubbed it with dried catnip. Work well. Do it every so often just to keep them interested. Get one!

It’s too hard, they don’t really like it
I glue cheap carpet to sonotube and ahttach a 2×2 piece of plywood on the bottom and top. You can make them 5′ tall, the cats can climb and peech on it.

We are on our second one. They are GREAT. We have it in front of a window, and both if our cats like to sit on the top and look out the window.
