Winter Rabbit Care – Which Heated Rabbit Water Bottle is the Best – Bunny Update

Yes, going outside in the freezing cold is not fun but it must be done. The hardest part of winter chores is providing your animals with plenty of water. On cold days here in the northeast part of Pennsylvania, temperatures are frequently below freezing. I decided to try out heated rabbit water bottles this year and hoped that they would allow me to keep my rabbits watered 24/7, but it wasn’t quite a dream come true.

Neither bottles could handle temperatures below 0 degrees F. While I did prefer the one from Farm Innovators Inc., I would definitely suggest just doing bowls in cages for anyone that has more than 2 rabbits. Yes, that requires you to go outside twice a day but we all need a little fresh air and your rabbits need your care.

I’ve had the farm innovations heated water bottle on and off for years. I bought a new one recently recently for my bunnies. The problem I always have is that the bunnies don’t know or can’t figure out how to get water out of it. I even take time in the winter, sitting the bunnies on my lap and sitting right in front of the water mounted to the side of their bunny barn, and I put the spigot in their mouth or I put my hand under the Spicket and use my thumb to depress it to get water to come out so that they understand what’s going on but I still haven’t got them to catch on. I’m curious if you had any trouble with that? Traditionally, my bunnies are used to drinking out of either a pan or bowl or the water that has the floating ball and I just don’t know why they can’t seem to figure out how this one works!

It was fun to see a new video and to see the bunnies again! I’m impressed with your knowledge about caring for, feeding, watering and breeding rabbits.
