Okay question, my cat refuses to eat anything real. He’s older 11 and has been a free eater for 11 years. Chicken nope! Tuna only eats the juices. Beef, nope just dry cat food even wet food he will only eat the gravy. Do I at his age just leave him alone with the bad habits his first owner created and I continued?

Just love this video. My cat is a fat cat and I’ve tried everything including ignoring her, feeding her less, and diet food. Shanti is a rescue cat from 2020. Friendly to a point that I trim her nails with no fuss. I feel she may have been let go during 2020 and fend for herself. When found she was extremely skinny and banged up. Possible car hit. In the past four years, I have tried everything. She is a foodaholic with skinny legs and small frame. She is looking like a short foot stool. I do feed her moist whole cat food but as a treat. Dry food as the main meal. I am going to switch it up to see if this helps. Thank you for the advice. Paws on dry food.๐Ÿ˜Š

A lot of this is like humans, you eat a carb filled diet, it starts a blood sugar problem that feeds on itself. Wet meat based diet is best. Natural cats donโ€™t get fat. And itโ€™s not โ€œbig-bonedโ€, itโ€™s โ€œfluffyโ€ ๐Ÿ˜…

Just got this cat out of a random situation but funny enough thought she was pregnant at first but then saw a blue tattoo on her tummy and after some feeling her skin it seems sheโ€™s just kinda chunky. Iโ€™m kinda happy Iโ€™m here watching this with her on my lap.๐Ÿ˜ญ

  8. @FrancesHart99 on February 5, 2025 at 9:36 pm

I put the feeder out constantly with royal canon dental specialist and kitten kibble, along with plenty of water stations. Due to my work I donโ€™t have time to cook a cat meal every day. My cats are healthy and not at all obese. I have a big house and if my cats stopped me sleeping I would shift all their toys, bedding, and water to the other end of the house until it stopped.

  9. @YinAndYang_ii on February 5, 2025 at 9:36 pm

    Friendly reminder

Obese animals arenโ€™t cute! Itโ€™s dangerous and life threatening. Do not overfeed your cat because itโ€™s โ€œcute.โ€

hi Jackson Ive been feeding a feral cat and her sister one is fat the other skinny, so I started them on raw only with a small serving of kibble once a day. They love the raw small batch beef, primal rabbit, chicken, and the instinct brand raw kibble. For freeze dried they like the Stella and chewy and small batch. she has lost weight. But I am worried and wondering why she’s over weight in the first place. I am trying to tame them and the only time she comes to me is if I buy the Whole Foods organic chicken in the warm bin the one in the green bag. We tried the regular but she won’t eat it unless it’s organic. Anyway I ended up purchasing the cats nets and we netted our entire yard! Also found a home vet that will come to the house! She is still feral though so not sure how I can do this. Wondering " if she has hypothyroid can this be cured with the raw diet?

My boy came from a house with multiple cats and hed steal food but when he moved in with us I put him on a meal plan and he’s better but he still steals food from us I’ve chased him off of plates several times and it’s to the point he has to be locked upstairs when we cook and eat…

  19. @AnarchistCookbookOfRiffs on February 5, 2025 at 9:48 pm

Waking you up at sunrise (5 AM) for food is annoying, but a meal schedule is the solution. I would get up and put him outside until breakfast. He will enjoy chasing the birds!

My cat Slick came to us so thin and starved. So we fed him and fed him and now heโ€™s fat. Not obese but fat. The only thing I did different was to give him Temptations cat treats every day coz heโ€™s obsessed with these treats. My husband yells at me to get his cats weight down. Yes itโ€™s now his cat even tho I am with him every day. Hubby is a tractor trailer driver and home weekends . So yeah how do I get his weight down . Heโ€™s 17 pounds and a male. If we can get him down to 12 pounds would be great. Yes heโ€™s healthy

  28. @Lynsey516 on February 5, 2025 at 10:05 pm

I have this same issue but with a skinny cat, he has always been thin and has suspected FIP , so naturally when they sent him home to me basically saying it’s palliative care I have spoilt him and he now disturbs me at night and is eating twice the amount of wet food as usual, he is still stick thin and is on steroids so he seems permanently hungry. It is now a month later and he is still well so I’m hoping FIP is not what he has afterall. But I blame his hunger on the steroids, should I be more strict with him? My excuses were, I thought he was terminally ill, he may well still be? Is his hunger actually genuine because steroids make cats hungry, would it be cruel for me to deny him extra food considering he is not gaining weight and that he is on medication.

I am sitting here waiting for Purina to make a LiveClear wetfood so I don’t need to feed the dry. As my roommate is terribly allergic and allergy shots don’t do jack all for any of their allergies especially not for cat allergy.

I really thank you for making this video my cat, Nelly isn’t too fat but still her mobility has been affected because for some reason she has chunks of fat (it not cancer we checked) and she can no longer clean her back so I have to do it myself so I really appreciate all of the tips and tricks but I have to wonder since meat has more nutrition than cable do we have to feed them less meet then we would kibble if so how much and also? is wet food okay if I mix it with kibble (if it is how much of the mix can they have)

  36. @msohmymy on February 5, 2025 at 10:14 pm

Because our two cats have different needs, and will steal any leftover food left in a bowl we decided to use a chip on their collar that opens their food bowl. They are also fed 2-3 times a day, scheduled. The chip type bowels are expensive, but vet bills are more expensive. My cats are feed mostly wet food or raw. They do get a little (1TSP) each of kibble in the middle of the day. They also eat the roaches and other bugs that make it into through our home (we live on Maui). We will find half eaten roaches or their legs left over in the morning. They do a good job with any roaches that make it in. LOL

Jackson what type of meat. I have tried chicken hearts, chicken liver, chicken, salmon and they donโ€™t want it. I did do one thing that maybe I shouldnโ€™t. I should give them raw meat instead? What is recommended. Do I go where they sell โ€œraw meat for cats and dogsโ€ . Or start again for the beginning with raw chicken gizzards etc? Iโ€™d greatly appreciate a comment from you Jackson or anyone reading my concerns.. My Siamese Cats (2)of them are 4 years . One is pushing 14lbs the other is 6 lbs.๐ŸŽ‰

  43. @amysho2192 on February 5, 2025 at 10:22 pm

My cat was 17.8 lbs and she’s been on a diet for 3 months and she’s down to 16.4 lbs now. She was free-feeding, but now she is eating 3 times a day. She is a Ragdoll and she was getting so heavy to lift. I can already see and feel the difference. Going to try to get her down to 15 pounds and that should be good enough. She doesn’t really look fat anymore, but I think another 1.5 pounds will be good.
We are only giving her 3 servings of 1/8 of a cup! So that’s less than half a cup a day! I can’t believe it’s taken 3 whole months for this little amount of weight to come off. I feel like I’m starving her. ๐Ÿ˜ข She sits by her bowl a lot and shows us to her food cabinet almost all day every day. ๐Ÿ˜ข She wakes us up early in the mornings, but she’s finally realizing she won’t get us up put of bed. Her meal times are 8am, 2pm, and 8pm. She also gets 5 temptation treats, twice a day.
Now that she’s 1.5 lbs down, she is a bit more active. She used to lay around ALL day. Wouldn’t walk too far before she plopped herself down. Was comical, but also sad. She never looked very "fat", just HUGE in general. Her vet recommended for her to loose a bit of weight so…don’t want her to get diabetes or arthritis. We love her very much.

  45. @Lulu-kt6gr on February 5, 2025 at 10:24 pm

They are carnivores, however, in the wild when they eat animals, they are also eating the greens and the nutrition from the greens that the animals eat. So please remember to give your cat greens as well. Thank you for the reminder that dry food is not the healthiest food for cats.
